At Last A Message!!!!!
Sorry about the lateness of this first report from us but it has not been easy finding an Internet connection way up here in the mountains. Anyway first things first, everyone is having a great time. The journey down was much quicker than anticipated; we managed to catch an earlier train and as a result arrived about 3 hours before we were expected.
Good thing really because we had to carry our entire luggage about 1/4 mile to the Chalet because to snow wasn’t deep enough for the Skidoo.
All the students were incredibly patient as there was quite a bit of waiting around to do first at the Chalet & then at the Ski & Boot hire shop. Top marks all round. With the chalet being right on the snow, this has meant that there has been quite a bit of walking for the beginners’ from the chalet to the ski school. However, the intermediate & advanced groups have been able to ski straight from our accommodation, but it's just a little bit too steep for those just starting out to ski from just yet. Maybe tomorrow. The weather is totally amazing; I don't think anyone would have thought it would have been like this. Bright blue skies and warm! Warm enough to melt the snow at the lower levels quite quickly in fact, but glorious all the same.
The mountains surrounding the resort are beautiful and this really is an amazing setting for anyone who has never seen the like. The first of the now traditional 'Hazard' & 'Wally' of the day awards went to..... Charlotte Staddon for wiping her entire group out while they were waiting for her & to Chris Stockton for accidentally jumping/falling off the chair lift at the bottom, causing no end of consternation to the attendants.
After the evening meal we strolled across to a local pancake house for waffles with chocolate sauce and to watch the sun go down across the valley. The food at the Chalet has been really good but we are off down the mountain to the village of Samoens to stock up on a few goodies after supper tonight before we go Ice skating! There are going to be a lot of tired kids at the end of today. Ciao for now, Alberto
